Mastercard TV commerical

This was a matte painting i created for a TV commerical for Master card. As you can see from the roll over, only the middle shelves existed in the set, the rest had to be created using a combination of photography and 3d, extending past the foreground and up to the ceiling. The foreground steps were 3d, including the floor, back wall and ceiling. A number of items had to be added to the shelves to fill them out, including chalk boards.

This matte painting is a good demostration that not all matte paintings are valleys and castles. A lot of matte paintings are extensions to existing sets.

The beach painting was for a second shot in the commerical and only partially used. The fence and windmill was 3d elements.

About me ...

David has been focusing his career in the visual effects industry for the last 10 years, specifically as a matte painter/environment artist. He's worked on a number of high profile projects including James Cameron's Avatar, Where the Wild Things Are, Clash of the Titans, Me and Orson Welles, Prince Caspian, Ashes to Ashes (BBC) and a number of TV commercials for clients including; Mastercard, Panosonic and Carling.
